RADEON Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 i just installed my 2 accelero x2's on my 1800xt and my 1800 master card. during instalation one of the memery heat pads slipped a bit off of one of the mem chip. its about 2/3 on and 1/3 off. is this going to couse problems? or can i leave it the way it is. its just a pain to remove again and reset all the pads. they got double sided sticky stuff on them so i'd have to peel them off of the heatsink and place them all back on the mem. Comp Dude2 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Well the fact that you are fitting aftermarket cooling suggests that you are concerned about your temps, if you are concerned about you temps then surely you should be concerned about a heatsink not sitting properly. I would fix it.
RADEON Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 (edited) its not the heatsink. its the little rubber type heat pads that go over the mem chips. the heat sink is making perfect contact with the core. bigred Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 for the bit of nothing those things do I wouldn't worry about it. if it was on with AS epoxy THEN i'd worry. that rubber cement pad crap mem coolers use doesn't do anything
Overclocker16 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 All them pads are there for is to pass the little bit of heat they can through to the copper. Otherwise its for stability so it doesn't cut into them. Basically, you don't need anything on the memory. I didn't for the longest time on my x1900xt (flashed to xtx) and never had a problem.
