Raife Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 Ok, my XP crashes are getting more frequent and frankly are ticking me off. I have looked up the STOP codes I'm getting and they indicate it is a driver issue with my video card. So my question is: how do I prevent Windows XP from automatically installing the Microsoft Signed version of the drivers on bootup (after I uninstall the current driver) and allow me to install the newest version of NVidias drivers. Ronin Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 you shouldnt need to uninstall the default drivers, just download the latest drivers from nvidia and install them. Next, run spybot search and destroy. Free app off of www.download.com
Raife Posted March 30, 2003 Posted March 30, 2003 (edited) When I try and install the new drivers the install program says it has detected an old version and the old drivers should first be removed. I currently use AdAware 6.0. Spybot any different? Somebody must know how to turn off the plug and play for XP!! Calyco Posted March 31, 2003 Posted March 31, 2003 first download drivers to desktop or some place you remember where they are. Then unistall the old ones. Reboot into Safemode. After in safemode install them from there. This should emliminate that pesky prob. Alright i'm out.
