mxrider623 Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 (edited) I have a Belkin Cable/DSL gateway and it wont let me send pictures with MSN Messenger how do i get past it? IS ANYONE GOING TO PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! Edited March 30, 2003 by mxrider623
JeepGC96ZJ Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 I dont think a router would not let you send something like that. Always go with a Linksys. Thats my prefered home networking solution. I have tried a couple others and had friends use like D-Link and Belkin. But the router should not block pictures from sending. Something else is wrong. Jeep Un install and re install Messenge. Or find an update.
mxrider623 Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 no someone else already asked a similar question and they said you had to bypass a port or something and they said it was the same thing with MSN messenger.
cptkook Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 I got this from MSN's web page: What do I do if I have a firewall? No matter what kind of firewall you have, you will need to configure it to allow the computers within it to open outgoing TCP sockets to allow your network users to use MSN Messenger Service. Computers on the internal local area network will need access to the Domain Name System (DNS) servers to resolve the names of external hosts such as microsoft.hotmail.com. As network administrator, you need to do the following:

cptkook Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 alright, not sure how much detail you need so I'll start from the beginning. In your web browser enter: 'http://192.168.2.1' (or what ever your internal DHCP IP is set too). In the login screen enter 'Admin' in the user name and leave the password blank (unless these have been changed). On the left hand side select 'special application ports'. In section 1. enter Trigger port at 1863 UDP, public port 1863 UDP, enable. This is from the F5D5203-4 online user's manual, you might find more info on this section in your hard copy. This might not work cause on belkins web page they even say that you have to put the computer in the DMZ. But its something to try.
