kurosen Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 like faster computers? oh wait, that's what overclocking is for.... sorry overclocker16, but this site is all about helping others not to get shafted... if newport can find out about this car without burning his cash, then i'm all for it. congrats on the purchase, wish I had an account to check it for you with bro
bigred Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 how exactly did you get a car without the title? cuz I'd be way more worried about the inablity to get plates, registration, and insurance than a carfax report on it. and without a title you're going to have a hell of a time getting anything for it btw I'd suggest not posting your vin in a public forum like this. if someone offered to help you PMing it would be one thing. What could someone do with a VIN? Look on autotrader - all over the place. Some cars show the vin under the windshield in plane view. Curious to what damage someone could do with a vin. bigred Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 one of my company's trucks was reported as "found" by the police. problem was it was never stolen. just the vin was copied and put on another truck that was reported stolen. of course in his situation... without any other paper work I suppose you're right. it's not like the car exists to the DMV or sec of state. 94Camaro Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Curious to what damage someone could do with a vin. Eh, not much besides, oh...head down to a dealer and get a set of keys cut.... Many dealers will do it with no questions asked...tis why my vin is covered.
bigred Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 See in my case it was kinda humorous. a red 2006 ram 2500 was found abandoned road side. the plate was bogus so the police ran the VIN. which was actually a fake using the vin off one of my trucks. also a 2006 ram 2500 (though a different variant). as it turned out the truck they found was stolen, the vin was changed and so was the plate. it simply ran out of gas and no one ever came back for it.
