using a laptop LCD for a desktop moniter

I was lucky enough to get my hands on 2 old dell inspiron 3000's out of a pile of free computer stuff.  Both had some issues, but I took the good parts from each and got one solid working laptop.  that leaves me with a bunch of trash parts and one extra 13.3" lcd display.

 

My question is, has anyone had any experence in using a Laptop LCD for a desktop?  or even better yet, a projector.
