computerfreakxv Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Im trying to install Windows XP on an old Gateway PC. I took out the old 20gig HD and put in a 40gig HD. When I boot it up it wont let me install the Operating System. All it does is sit there, and say that it cant find an operating system? Whats the deal? It wont even go to the Windows set-up screen. General912 Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Older bios wont detect the windows cd thats why you have to use a boot disk. if you make a boot disk w/ the cd you will be able to install win xp when the bios detects the floppy.
