savethedodobird Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Also in XP when you hold F8 at startup there is an option for VGA mode. That loads everything but the VGA driver, you can change it from that aswell.

sdy284 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 safe mode didn't work? as in you couldn't get into safe mode? or it didn't work once u changed the setting in safe mode?
ShakeWell Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 if u can go into safe mode, you can try uninstalling the video drivers and then reinstalling them once you boot up normally.
timoty Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 My brother had almost the exact same problem at a school that received charity computers. This is the long way around but as a last resort, grab a monitor that will display the resolution, plug it in for one minute, back down the resolution and frequency to 60HZ, and then plug in the older one again. Do this for each computer. Pain in the butt, but a sure fix. The safe mode/vga options above should have worked though.
kingdingeling Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 its weird that safe mode doesn't work, maybe the windows install if corrupt?
