hi im thinking of setting up a web server i have installed ISS and im kinda stuck on what i need to get the directorys and domain name stuf, i also know taht my router can forword ports uing a simple setup utill but all my ip's on my network are dynamicaly assingnd dos that matter?

um.. well.. if your gana be using authentication.. then install active directory and DNS..

 

i doubt that. .so.. what i would do is.. just create a new site using the wizard.. pick a directory that you want to host your files.. and then put them there and choose that location in the wizard..

 

after you do that.. forward port *whatever*

 

then.. if you have a linksys router.. i suggest you setup dynamic DNS..

 

go to www.dnynds.org .. setup an account.. use the free dynamic dns option..

 

like mysite is * <-- being some name i choose

 

***.dyndns.org

 

mysite.dyndns.org

 

there are others that you can choose from in the wizard such as

 

mysite.dontexist.com ect..
