nightsider Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 hi im thinking of setting up a web server i have installed ISS and im kinda stuck on what i need to get the directorys and domain name stuf, i also know taht my router can forword ports uing a simple setup utill but all my ip's on my network are dynamicaly assingnd dos that matter? asus Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 do you mean IIS? um.. well.. if your gana be using authentication.. then install active directory and DNS.. i doubt that. .so.. what i would do is.. just create a new site using the wizard.. pick a directory that you want to host your files.. and then put them there and choose that location in the wizard.. after you do that.. forward port *whatever* then.. if you have a linksys router.. i suggest you setup dynamic DNS.. go to www.dnynds.org .. setup an account.. use the free dynamic dns option.. like mysite is * <-- being some name i choose ***.dyndns.org mysite.dyndns.org there are others that you can choose from in the wizard such as mysite.dontexist.com ect.. if you need help.. feel free to PM me or whatnot. .ive done this stuff.. millions of times now.. its become second nature lol Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
