well i cant really tell but is that a laptop cuz if it is its normal for it to change frequency cuz its trying to save power. i really cant see that pic is tooo small

edit: nevermind pics just blew up. i think its knida a regulation of clock thats off im not sure but it may be a setting that auto oc's when cpu task load increases. i know that my asus does have that option to oc automatically but im not sure with those cpus

This is probably similar to the throttling feature you can find on both AMD and Intel processors. With throttling, the CPU speed is raised or lowered based on various factors. With the thermal variety, CPU speed is lowered to keep temps down. Laptops generally throttle their processors to keep power usage down during idle or low use times.

I'm thinking you may have a BIOS option for lowering clock speed when not all clocks are in use. Either that or it's a built in thing with the new Pentium D processors.

in reality it's not uncommon

I have rigs that dance up and down 10mhz all the time.

i turned off all overclocking functions in the bio just to be safe and it still jumps

and i've seen it jump 200 MHz when i run to many programs....

and i do not think that is too normal
