Dr_Frankenstein Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 well i have been using the new QMD cores on my p4 for just over a month now and my PPD have shot up just a shout out really to make sure all the P4 folding rigs u may have running use them each core will use 220mb of ram while running so if you run two consoles for HT you will need a least a gig of ram just to prove the qmds are great heres my month on month production with no new rigs added Last 3 Months Production Month-----Points----WUs 12.05-----22,078-----81 < Full Month of QMD Core usage 11.05-----17,144-----65 < Started Using the QMD cores halfway through the month 10.05-----14,573-----73 < Before Using the QMD Cores
road-runner Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 I have been running them every since they came out on my H.T. P4s with dual 256mb =512mb of RAM or a single 512mb of RAM and on some single 256mb on non H.T. seems to work fine. I would add more if I had the money. There just going to have to keep on running the way I have my stuff set up most every one finish with 96% to 98 % of the deadline time left anyway. ccokeman Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 I have 2 p-4's that only pull in QMD core wu's. I'm thinking of setting the third one up to get them but it pulls in 600 pointers all the time.
DECwakeboarder Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 How do you setup P4's to get only QMDs?
ccokeman Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Use the 5.02 or 5.04 beta console and allow big wu's in setup and use the -advmethods flag. If you use the 5.04 console version it asks you during setup. Go get em.
DECwakeboarder Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Will setting this flag do anything with A64s? I think I set it on accident, but I'm not sure...I'll go take a look at it.
