lilkev715 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 First you obviously need to capture the video. After that is done, you need to encode the video into DVD format. I use NeroVision Express with the DVD plugin to encode video for buring to DVD later. After the video is encoded into DVD format then you can burn it to a DVD disc. habitual geek Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) keep in mind not every DVD player plays every type of writable DVD, so if it doesnt work the first time it could mean that particular DVD player is picky about format type/media type i use DVD Shrink 3.2 for editing, DVD Decrypter for burning, Nero works okay for burning too, but DVD Decrypter is banned now......good thing i saved a copy Edited December 30, 2005 by habitual geek

habitual geek Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 DVD Decrypter Burns DVDs? How? 608253[/snapback] at the top, choose the "Write" mode instead of read, you could rip any DVD with that program alone as long as you dont want to edit it, but i hate having to go through all those menus and crap with my kids dvd's, so when i buy them, the first thing i do is rip using DVD Shrink, take out everything except the main movie, write it to the HDD as an ISO, and then use DVD Decrypter to burn it to a disc not to mention the pure destruction toddlers can do to a DVD, blanks are cheap, originals are not, the originals only get played when we let them watch one of them on the big screen in the living room
jbavousett Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I use DVD shink and Decrypter also...but I compress the heck out of the video and keep all the extra features and Audio tracks. DVD Shrink runs an analysis and compares the compressed video with the uncompressed, and if it's not within a certain tolerance, it'll lower the compression for a bit. I've NEVER had a DVD come out with artifacts in the image, and have not been able to tell any difference between the master disk and the copy. I have a 27" 4:3 tv, maybe if I had a massive HD...but for me, I like being able to put my disk back in the box, and carry my copies around with me, and still have all the goodies like DTS.
