flareback Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Just wondering what your thoughts are. I need to get a usb network card for a computer at church (no pci slots available). I was wondering if gigabit would be worth getting. I'm not sure how fast usb 2.0 can transfer. I know i have to have a gigabit switch and all for it to take advantage of the speed. looking at this or this
romeo55 Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 The linksys will do you fine, unless your transfering files measuring in the gigabyte size (even on a 100 mbit connection it'll only take about 10 min) which i doubt you will, and besides, usb 1.1 is like what 11mbs and usb 2.0 is like 480 mbits top speed anyways, and probably won't even hit that speed (bottlenecks in the soutchbridge and what not) Edit: the 10/100 one will be fine
