Queenz Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Ok i fried my motherboard when i was placing it in the computer case. I did not put the motherboard on stand offs so this leaves me to believe that when the motherboard touched the case and i turned it on i caused one big circuit and fried it cuz the stand offs werent on there keeping the mother board off the case. Can any one please help me and tell me if my theory is right? Any help would be appreciated.

Cookieman123 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 And this is why you do research before trying to build a PC. Try reading the second post in the "building a new computer" thread here: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/Buildin...ter-t30727.html
JerrDogg77 Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 they put standoffs there for a reason, they arent optional, although i have heard of people not using them and not having any probs, but why risk it.
Ste Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 RMA it, Don't look back. If they ask just say it never booted. Jerr: oddly enough I never used standoffs in my computer and never have any problems with it. I tried putting in standoffs but then the I/O panel wouldn't match up. So I was like, Whatever. Though for ever other computer I built, I had to use standoffs.
