Blue_cow Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Well my parents are seperated so i get 2 christmases. I got a 300gb hard drive 7200rpm 16mb. Ive got 2 120gb 7200rpm 8mb. Im wondering what the best setup is for all of my files. Ive got my OS on one of my 120gb and my media (music, movies, etc) on another 120gb, but im wondering if i can make anything run a bit faster if i can transfer stuff from one drive to another... or something. Anyways, this might sound stupid because i really don't know if i can make anything run faster by altering my hard drive configuration but its worth asking. THANKS! Ste Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Edit: After rereading your post. I saw that you have 2 120GB's HD. Since you got another HD now, Why not put the two 120GB's in RAID 0, then use the 300GB As back up/storage. That is if you don't mind backing up all the data onto the 300GB and then reformating and creating the array with the two 120GB's. You will see a huge increase in preformence. Vasto Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 (edited) He probably has IDE though...I would put everything on the 300gb, reformat the other two and reinstall windows on one of them, than use the 300gb as an exclusive media storage.
