SMeeD Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Ok so with some birthday/Christmas money Im thinking about buying a 5.1 surround sound headset. Has anyone had any experience with these? How do they compare to 5.1 speakers? The computer is pretty much where everyone will be able to hear it so speakers are kinda out of the question. I had these in mind with the power adaptor to get rid of the buzz some people have been having. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16826159003
DarkScorpion Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 You'll be better with speakers, headphones aren't meant to be used for surround sound (seriously, I think it's dumb). You can pick up a pair of Logitech X-530's for about that same price. I've heard 'em - not that bad for its price. Or you can try these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16836150013. I have the 2.1 speakers with the weaker sub - it's still pretty dang good, better than the X-230's (2.1 version of 530's) in my opinion, so they shouldn't be so bad. SMeeD Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I was looking into a headset because Im in vent a lot, so I need the microphone. But if it comes down to it Ill get some better speakers and find some way to get them to work where I am.

eldiablo10 Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I like speakers better. I have the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers and I love them. They crank otu 505w and the sub by itself cranks out 188w. They are AWESOME

DECwakeboarder Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Speakers if your parents/roomate/wife doesn't mind the sound. I've got a pair of the Zalman surround headphones and you can definitely tell it works, but the speakers make it much more obvious and have a better sound.
