glliw Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Hey just want to start this off by saying I'm nearly retarded when it comes to computers other than browsing and installing things so without further ado, the problem: I cannot get games such as Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed to run past the loading screen after the intro movie. It just full screen crashes and downsizes the screen to like 640x480. 1 out of the 5 times i tried i got a Porsche.icd.exe error....not sure on the meaning of this so could anyone give me a hand? also, it does the same thing with tiberian sun and AOE II... Empire.exe and Tiberian.exe errors. maybe you'll want to know some system info? fx5600xt, 1.9ghz P4, 1gb ram, 80gb HD.... thanks in advance for the help
Ste Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Have you tried the latest patches for all the games? Have you tried updating the drivers for the video card?
glliw Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 (edited) yep. went to nvidia's site and got the drivers. i didn't find any patches for NFSPU on the EA website. any pointers? EDIT: i found an update off of a site that it now will load past the load screen. only problem is that the entire screen is flashy..like the graphics are being pulled all over. Ste Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 Try uninstalling the games, deleting whatever is left then reinstalling them. What is your anti virus? Do you have any Anti Spyware programs? How old is this installation of windows? How many running processses?
glliw Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 tried reinstalling twice. anti virus is no-go since i was using AVG then trial ran out a week or so ago. I use Counterspy, S&D, and AD-aware for spyware 29 running proccess using on average 10% of system resources. im using windows 2000 and was installed about 4 months or so ago. Ste Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 What are the rest of your system specifications. Mainly Motherboard and Power supply. It is prehpas that your video card just can't handle it, or is not being supplied enough power. Also redownload AVG. AVG Donwload
