Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 What does everyone here like to see in an MMO of any sort? Whether it be an RPG, FPS, RTS, etc. Please share your opinions of what makes and breaks one, it'll be kept in mind during the production of a soon-to-come MMO. Bionix Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 The interface and graphics are just as important as the content. Anyone ever try Star wars galaxies? That game rocked, altough it was lacking a little bit of content. However, I see there are a few xpacs out for it so I may have to start playing again. Aeromun Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 freedom The best part about Mmos is being able to explore the game without being constrained by rules.

ClayMeow Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 freedom The best part about Mmos is being able to explore the game without being constrained by rules. 605062 what makes an mmo an mmo is the ability to traverse around a HUGE environment alongside thousands of other players. There must be missions/quests to complete, but not not necessarily obligatory. A player should be able to go off on their own. There has to be RPG elements, whether an actual RPG, an FPS, RTS, whatever. In that, I mean, there must be a reason to come back, and that comes in leveling, item collection, etc. There has to be a feeling of interactivity. This can be thru NPCs, with the environment, or with other players. Graphics are also key. Highend graphics help, but aren't a necesity. However, the graphics have to be distinguishable. The look and feel of the game has to set itself apart from the hundred other MMO's. And that brings us to story. If an MMO is truly going to distinguish itself, it has to have a compelling, original storyline.
Foramorm Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Interface is a big one. I like WoW's, but I like Everquest's even more. The amount you can customize it is amazing. One thing I also miss from MMO's is an epic feel. Some seem too linear. I really liked almost everything about Everquest pre-Luclin (I'm not sure if anyone else knows what I'm trying to get across by saying this.) True epic quests, epic battles, massive PvE encounters (50+), some sort of PvP would be nice... something like battlegrounds maybe. I don't know, I'll have to think about it and get back to you. Foramorm Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 i like the thing called FREE online play, hence guild wars 605300 Free online play is nice. But what kind of in-game events and support are you going to get? I haven't played Guild Wars enough to tell. And I wouldn't really consider GW a MMO, more like a glorified Diablo.
