....and i just can't fix it.

i start my computer to find:

a picture WOULD be here but OCC is only giving me 42k of space.

basically it's a big blue background that said "SPYWARE INFECTION RAWRR" and it wouldn't allow me to change the background, but it ended up being a html file in my windows directory, and it went away.

however a problem still lingers:

i can't change my background. the "desktop" window under desktop properties is unmodifiable (if that's a word, *shrug*)...but yea it bugs me. it's not greyed out, just i can't select anything, that sort of nature.

maybe some help? please? =/

Try running a repair of windows.

Also post a hijackthis log. This is my OPINION I am IN NO WAY speaking as in expert. So KB, Bigred. Don't go there.

During the last year I have run into it twice in customers PC's. The only answer I had to it was to reformat and start fresh. I'm sure there is a fix for it, maybesome registry entries, but I didn't want to spend hour after hour finding everything.

I just had this same problem on my family computer. Go into c:\ or c:\WINDOWS  look for a file called index.html [look] and then delete it if it is the offending file.
