so the manual for my mobo says to get ddr 400 and that clocks at 400MHz right????

 

then why in the bios does it say it's max clock is 200MHz?????? I am confuzled... would some one care to enlighten me on this descrepency?

yes, the manual is saying the total speed in mhz, and the bios is saying the speed of one of the sticks in mhz

Hense the term DDR. Double Data Rate. Thats where the x2 comes from...so in other words, theres nothing wrong with what it says. 200mhz = 400 ddr

Lol, this has to be the funiest post Ive seen in awhile. No Offense.

 

Yes, each stick operates at 200MHz, but they do double that in a single beat of the system timer. Hence Double Data Rate, just like everyone else has said.
