Just Got Verizon

Well, since I went to college, and my mom didn't want to pay as much for cable, we switched to verizon. It works fine when going straight from the modem to my computer, but when i try to hook it up to my router, it doesn't work. I have a Linksys WRT54G and a Westell 6100 modem. Does anyone know what settings I need to have them on for it to work?

go into the router setup (192.168.1.1) and configure PPPOE for your DSL.

You may need to disable DHCP and the firewall in the Westell also. Then you can set up the router for PPPoE.

WIth verizon you don't need ppoe. here is my question. The westell modem, is it the one that has the router built in? The black one? If it is, that is your problem you have 2 routers. So what your doing is jumping them.

Some ISPs (I don't know if verizon is one of them) will require you to register a MAC address and then only that address is allowed to connect. If this is the case, you'll need to set the router to identify itself with the MAC address that was registered instead of its own address.

I haven't seen DSL without PPPoE, but ok. Anyway, yes, that is the Westell that has a firewall and DHCP. So, as I already said, you need to disabloe those first.
