tnactim Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 that has happened to my mp3 player twice. I was in a rush, pulled it out, only to find that my mp3 player stopped working. I had to get this proggy from the Phillips website that restored the OS onto it.

tbone2sk Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I do not think it is a probelm with flash drives, but if you do it with usb hardrive it is not good for them. Even the little harddrives.

flareback Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I've lost all the data on one before, and a friend of mine had one messed up by just pulling it out. i usually try to eject them first but don't always remember.
LoArmistead Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I've never had any "corruption" or "explosions" while removing flash drives. I have had only on bad experience out of the thousands of hot swaps I have done -- I pulled my xD card out of the slot while it was being accessed. When I turned my digicam back on to use it...it didn't detect the xD card or any pictures. I eventually had to reformat it and it worked, I just lost everything. suchuwato Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Actually the guy is kinda right.. you need to disable write cacheing if you want to unplug at any time.... ao long as it isn't wring you should in theory be alright, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
