ant84 Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Im in the market for a new case cause of my horrible temps and well its biege (not exactly my style ) I found about 4 that i like, so I would like to hear some comments from actual owners on those. I'm looking for a black case, cause all of my other pc krap is already black (would consider silver) with 120mm fans and side window. So here are my choices so far. (all without PSU, i'll stick with my neopower for now) Coolermaster Wavemaster - ($180 CAD) -> my personal favourite, would be almost perfect, but way too pricy for me right now and lacks side window. Coolermaster Cavalier 3 Cav T03 - ($85 CAD) -> Took a look at this one yesterday, doesnt look like that great in real life compared to pics, price is ok though Also has only 80mm intake fan. Coolermaster Centurion 5 - (around $100CAD) -> Like this one better than Cav. But both have only 80mm intake Antec Super Lanboy - ($115 CAD) -> I know this one is much smaller, I like the front 120 intake, but I'm afraid its blocked by the hdd tray. Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Tower - ($150 CAD) - > looks nice, kinda looks like a cheaper wamaster ripoff. I'm pretty sure I would have to replace those stock fans. I'm hearing those are way too loud and don't push too much air. Basically looking for a decent looking case with the best possible airflow (would consider replacing stock fans with Panaflo's later on)
BTSchnarfy Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 I have the Thermaltake Armor and I really, really like it. It has TONS of room in it, and has great airflow with two 120mm and two 90mm fans. I will admit though, the "doors" on the front can seem kinda cheesy at times (like when they squeek when opening them). All in all though, I am very glad I bought it. hardnrg Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 the only "bad" thing about the tsunami case is you cant punch/kick or hit the panels with a hammer... i personally don't subject my cases to such abuse so i don't see the problem... i guess if you sat on the panel it might bend, but i don't do that either... it's a nice case to work with and cutting out the fan mesh is easy cos it's aluminium as opposed to steel... the rear intake i replaced with a 120x38 panaflo hi (108cfm) the front stock one is still there (it's not loud at all, barely audible even with ear near it in fact) and i replaced the side 92mm with something a bit more powerful (i forget what it is, might be a panaflo, might be something else) has some nice places to tuck ccfl's into... it's REALLY light... you can quite easily replace the led's in the door and the power/hdd leds with different colours if you want... uv in action: http://www.overclockersclub.com/gallery/?act=case&id=1065 what you want to do to the fan mesh: http://forums.overclockersclub.com/?showto...ndpost&p=529375
JTEX1414 Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 I've got the Wave Master. It's built to last, tough and durable, altho a little heavier than other cases (since it's metal it's goona be heavier than the cheap-o plastic/aluminum ones). The paint's beutiful. so good that you can use it as a miror in your room if you don't have one. Pull out Motherboard tray is great for easy access and maintenence. It's well worth it. Get the windowed side panel for it too if you want it, I have that too and it looks amazing. The entire case is of the Highest quality. Where did you get the windowed side panel for the wavemaster? I never seen one with window yet. How are those CM fans? (Need to be replaced with something else?) the window has fan too? Maybe I should just save up more and then get the wavemaster, though I'm temped to grab the tsunami now. (and replace at least the rear fan one with 120 panaflo) Any input on the lanboy? How is the airflow? Those other two CM case are way cheaper though, any good? Those two and the lanboy dont have the side fan, and im not feeling like cutting into a brand new 100 dollar case yet. Does it make too much difference (i suppose it should)
