Am I Doing Something Wrong Or Is This A Future Rma

This is my first build using a SATA hd. I plugged the SATA wire from the WD 80gb caviar to my MSI neo2. I fire it up and under the boot order option in bios, the only thing that shows up is the optical drive. I try to install windows and that doesn't recognize the hd either.

Yes, I plugged the power in. I even tried 2 different SATA wires and no-go.

Is it just a bad unit or is there something about SATA that I don't know?

No floppies. A cd, however. But I don't have a floppy drive anyway. I'll go browse that now.

-feels nooby-

edit: so I pushed F6, but like I said, no floppy and no floppy drive. what should I do?

Herrmmm... Well, on my lanparty Ultra-D I just popped the SATA drive in there, plugged it in, booted up, inserted XP CD, and it all went smoothly. I thought I'd need the floppy to install the SATA drivers, so I even took the time to install a FDD in the rig. It turns out I didn't even need it, so I'm not sure what your problem could be. :( Good luck.
