Goldeneye Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I was hooking up my old computer for my brother to the networkm but when I went to go set up the network for that computer Windows says it can't find the card. I thought the card was faulty so I took it out and put it in my Smoothwall machine and it detected it . So me thinks it has to do with either Windows or the MB. I just bought a new card tonight and same thing. I installed the drivers and when i went to network set up wizard Windows says it can't find the card?????. So I am at a loss to whats wrong. I never had this happen to me . Anything else that I should be chacking or something that I am missing? Thanks Goldeneye
Guest FxXP Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 (edited) Simple, don't run the stupid wizard. Is the card listed in the device manager and does it get an IP address from your router/cable modem? Goldeneye Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Thanks No I looked and its not listed in the Device manger. Im starting to think its the MB. Its an Asus P4B266-C MB and I never had this problem. I reormated it and left it sitting for a month when I go to hook it up to the network its not working. Silverfox Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 i know this may sound silly, but another pci slot might do the trick. let us know how you get on.
Guest FxXP Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 (edited) Seeing that the P4B266-C is a Intel 845 (Brookdale) chipset board, it would be best to install the Intel chipset drivers so that all the IRQ routing can be properly managed by XP.
