Psychotic_god Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 When this topic was started, Im at 68 work units and 7249 points, its just that it seems kind of a low amount of points for that many work units.....no? Is there a way to increase point gain for each work unit? Also, since you guys made me feel guilty about using my school computer, I decided to run rigs at home instead like everyone else. I bought a couple of P4 2.8 and 2.6s, got my own rigs going, and some old AMD rigs (from 900mhz- 1200+).
flareback Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Different work units are worth different amounts. I wouldn't worry about it. congrats on the new folders.
BabyBalrog Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 It's really not a matter of points per WU but instead points per day PPD, because what if you are doign 3 WU worth 50 poitns each a day ( tipical small gromacs) that's 150 PPD, but it you are doign oen 240 point Tinker that takes two days to finish then you aer only gettign 120 PPD, in that case small WU's are better.... ccokeman Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 I have not run the graphical edition in a while so i'm a little rusty on it. Do you have a settings page still if you right click on the icon on the taskbar? Are you using it with the screensaver option? If so dont. Turn off any screen saver that you may have because it will use the majority of the cpu cycles instead of folding. I use the 5.02 or the beta 5.04 the beta version will allow you to set up the -advmethods flag in setup and allow you to specify big wu's in setup allowing you to get some of the larger point value work units. You would otherwise have to modify your shortcut with the -advmethods flag in the target line similar to where i have highlighted in this picture. You of course would not need the flags that are present in the highlighted field. ccokeman Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Looking at you ppd i would say you are not doing to bad. I also get the little point wu's but they sem to be only when the large wu's are not abundant. Right now the gb gromacs are killing me but i do have 2 that pull qmd's day in and day out.
