CoolMaster Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 What is amd's plans for memory in the future, are they going to try to stick with 184 pin, or what and if they decide to change, how far off? and ive heard those mushkin redline memory modules have to be actively cooled, even at stock, is this true? Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 DDR3 with Socket M2, assuming that even comes out.
BabyBalrog Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 DDR2 with socket M2 in 2006, then move to FB-DIMM 2007* and DDR3 2008 Now the interesting thing is that FB-DIMM's could mean that DDR2 and 3 work side by side... never know.. but we can hope
CoolMaster Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 what about that mushkin redline, does that need active cooling to run at stock speeds?
Uber Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 what about that mushkin redline, does that need active cooling to run at stock speeds? 593054[/snapback] the older stuff with the BH-5 chips on it does, as you run about 3-3.5 volts through it! but these onyl come in 512 sticks. teh new mushkin redline is a CH6/TCCD hybrid, and runs on 2.6-2.9 volts (will take more if properly cooled though) and does not require active cooling. BabyBalrog Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 Well one FBDIMMS are open so anyoen can use them raelly, not Intel propriatary, and truthfully wqhat I would like to see, is AMD jsut say srew it and release FB-DIMM DDR3 next fall, I thikn the market could handle it and the start speeds would be like PC 8000 FSB(800)
