Games Crashing

Recommended Posts

hello friends i have a few questions that i just need a clarification on...

First let me lay down some history behind my problem... i have a heavily occed system, this includes my cpu, an xp 2100+(1737) occed @ 2260 mhz, my corsair xms 2700(333mhz) occed @ 416mhz, and my video card an 9700 pro occed at 363/313 or someting. Now that being said this is my problem. Every time i would oc i would run 3dmark01 and 3dmark03 and sisoft sandra, i noticed that when my vid card reaches its limits the screen fills with artifact and in order to fix this all i needed was a simple reboot, and also i noticed something else, during my occing i noticed sometimes when i would be running 3dmark the screen would not fill with artifacts(which tells me its not a vid card problem) the bench would just crash to the desktop, now i dont know wether this is due to my cpu being to heavilly overclocked or my ram. I also noticed that whenever i would play c+c generals or NOLF 2 about ten minutes in it would tell me"sorry, a serious error has occured", i am also unsure wether this is due to my cpu or ram. i noticed that by upping the core voltages on the cpu and ram it would remedy the situation but im still not sure wether it is my cpu or ram. I used to soley think that it was my cpu, but i just read another post on the forum that made me think it could be my memory. please help a brother out, any comments would be great, thx.

Try increasing your CPU voltage, leaving your ddr voltage the same. See if that fixes or at least helps the situation. If it does, then it would most likely be your CPU causeing the instability. If it doesn't fix the problem, reset the vcore back to where it was, and increase your ddr voltage and see if that fixes or at least helps the situation. If it does, then it would most likely be your mem causeing the instability. If it doesn't fix the problem, then try both and see if that helps, if it does then its both the cpu and the mem causeing the problem. If raising both doesn't work then there is a problem some place else. You'll just have to track it down by changing one variable at a time on each item until you find the problem. make sure to include mem timings, agp voltage, agp/pci divider, etc... if you have the options.
