2 Questions

I just bought a new computer from Gir. Here are the specs:

~Amd64 3700+ San Diego Core (newest, greatest)

~stock heatpipe hsf from an fx cpu

~DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D modded to SLI and has 623-3 bios

~ocz gold 1gb (2x512mb) pc3200

~Chaintech 6600gt

~aspire x-navigator case (blue front) in perfect condition

~500watt power supply

~60gb hard drive

~cd-rw drive made by LG

~dvd drive unsure brand

I have 2 questions:

1) which would be better: the OCZ gold RAM or patriot XBL? I may swap 1 of them for the other before I sell my machine on eBay. Should I:

a) sell my current rig with the patriot TCCD and use the ocz

b) sell my current rig with the ocz gold and use the patriot

c) keep both and put 512mb of value ram in my current rig (selling one later on)

2) I do not want to use the generic 500W PSU this comes with. I ;plan on buying a 7800gt soon. Should I:

a) swap the generic 500W with my antec neopower 480

b) sell my neopower 480, buy a new PSU, and then put the generic one in my ond rig before selling it

Sorry if this sounds like a Cosmo quiz. :P

Dang son, that rig is very similar to one of mine. I have the neopower480 in it and it runs great. I'm also using OCZ el Plat. Rev2 in it and it handles pretty well. Other than that, I have the same CPU and same mobo. My guess is stick with the OCZ and you'll get a nice OC out of it. Good luck.

For the PSU, I'd definately say to keep the Antec. You won't need any more power than that, even with a 7800gt, so there's no sense in selling it at a loss and buying a new one when it's a solid PSU that meets your needs.

As for the ram, I don't know what the ratings are on the Gold OCZ is because I don't really shop their prices much, but I think the smartest thing to do would be to test them both. Side by side test. Pretty much everyone here will only be speculating, but you can easily find out which is best. Just find the ceiling on the SD when you get it, and then see which ram will give you the tightest timings at that FSB. The winner stays, the loser gets the 'f' out :P

EDIT###

Marty, I run the setup in my sig with a Tagan 480, which is very similar (if not the same) to the Antec one. I wouldn't have any worries running that chip and a 7800gt on that Antec.
