Can I Fold 2 Instances On A Single Core?

I want to fold for OCC, but I also want to fold for my new team at work. Can I setup two separate directories (2 instances), and set them at 50% to fold for both teams on my A64 3200+?

 

EDIT: It looks like it is working, but setting them at 50% makes both instances run at 25% of my CPU load. I guess I need to have them at 100% still.

if you have a p4 then you can, hyper threading will act as a 2nd core. with a A64 that is impossible unless your running a actual dual core. pretty much to answer your question, no, only 1 instance per core unless it has hyper threading.

It is working for me, each does 50%.

It should work fine, as long as each instance has it's own folder and you split the workload.

you dont gain anything from running two instances on one core just uses more Ram theres not much point

Yes you can. Give each instance it's own folder and machine ID. Not much point to it unless U are working with an Intel chip with HT. You may have to mess with the proc affinity.

why not fold a few days with one team id then switch that way each wu will be done quicker helping the project .???
