Intriguing Issue...

Ok, i'm running an Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI. The motherboard runs superbly so don't give me any "Abit stinks" comments. I am also using a 3200+ A64 Venice and 1gb of XMS TCCD ram. I am using an XP=120 as well. Now, for the problem.

Whenever i'm overclocking at all, it doesn't matter what I do, I can't seem to get faster than 2.5ghz. I know that Venices can usually run far beyond 2.6ghz so why is this happening. BTW, I have tried every divider and the motherboard can sucessfully run at 300mhz HTT stably. I used a multiplier of 7 at these speeds rather than 10. I tried increasing the voltage to every component of the motherboard as well as the CPU, but nothing works.

Ever think that there's a good possibility you got a crappy chip?

What are your temperatures like? Maybe it's not seated well and you're overheating? What RAM do you have? How are your voltage rails?

I have Corsair XMS ram

My cpu is running at slightly over room temp.

My rails are 12.33, 5.22, and 3.49.
