GlimmerMan Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I'm gonna buy a SI-120 and a delta HSF (high speed fan) http://www.pccasegear.com/prod2431.htm I was wondering if i should make the fan blow into or out of the hs. Also, are thier any better CPU blocks out because i havnt researched fro a while.
lilkev715 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 With 220cfm blowing/sucking on the heatsink wont make any difference at all really. Just be aware that 99% of the fan controllers out there max out at 20 watts per channel, 9.4watts short of what the Delta Requires. Unless you make your own high-capacity fan controller, you will have to run that fan at full speed all the time (and go deaf at the same time). I have a range of different 120mm fans that I have tried on my XP-120, and IMO past 80-90cfm there is practically little gain above that. For example a Antec Tri-Cool that pushes close to 80cfm cools about 1-2C less compared to a 130cfm Delta that I have. If you must insist on extreme cooling, I would recommend getting the 150cfm version of the Delta TFB; which consumes less than 20 watts so you can hook it up to a fan controller. slayer2cool Posted December 9, 2005 Posted December 9, 2005 if im not wrong there was a dood here who used the older 200 cfm model and the fan was generating soo much heat, he changed it to something more toned down .. lol all i can say overkill!
