Ryan5508 Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Hey just a quick question that someone can hopefully help me out with. My brothers comp had a 6800 ultra in it and the fan acting up so we purchaced a silencer and installed it. Now when the computer boots up the graphics are all corrputed badly. You can still make up whats going on to a point and when it makes it to windows the dispaly settings say its in 8 bit mode. If you turn it up past that it stops the display completely. Is there any way to fix this or is the card screwed. it feels cool to the touch while running so im preaty sure its not heat related but cant be sure. thanks
anthony Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Some arctic silencers had problems with contact.. Make sur ethe arctic silencer is touching the vid card. If it isnt, remove the thermal pads and replace it with some thinner thermalpad, thermal tape or thermal paste... or you could try to RMA it. Fireonice Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 Yes if that fails then you could slap the stock h/s on and rma it . OR you could be a lazy bum like me and if the card isnt dead some how remove the stock fan from the stock h/s and rubberband on a fan to it.
