I just wanted to show you guys that water + electricity doesn't mix together very well. Here are some pics of what happened when a tube from my fish tank started to leak some water onto my APC surge protector.

The pump that was plugged into the socket on the first pic started to melt the plastic as shown. The heat buildup from the water shorting out the surge protector was enough to crack open the back of the unit a little. Finally the damage that was done to the inside of the unit. Its pretty safe to say that the surge protector is toast. None of the items attached to the surge protector were harmed, the circuit breaker was not tripped in the house, and thankfully the carpet didnt catch on fire. Of course this sort of incident is in no way convered by APC's warranty, but it shows that they do make quality products.

Ya, All my computer stuff, TV and Sterio equipment are attached to a Surge protector.

Especially since its all like over 2.5 Grand combined.

Glad nothing was toasted in your case.

I also want to get a UPS for my computer soon, not so much for the battery back up but for the AC line filtering.

Lilkev: got any reccomendations for one under 150$?
