Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 This is what I'll be buying for myself this Christmas season. I may upgrade to an NF4 Ultra-Infinity by DFI if I can afford it. ASRock K8NF4G Micro-ATX Sapphire X800GTO (256 megs GDDR3) AMD Sempron 64 2600+ And to power it all: Fortron Source 450w If I use my writing skills well, I may be able to use a gig of RAM from my brother's system. It'll be used mainly for gaming with CS:S and UT2k4.
bigr Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 ooh god, that setup made my spine shiver, at least get a somewhat quality psu, like a coolermaster 350 at that and go 939 whats your budget target
Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Bigr, you know what? The noticeable gaming difference between a Sempron 64 and Venice is UN-NOTICEABLE TO THE HUMAN EYE AT EQUIVALENT CLOCK SPEEDS! And why buy the best Bang:Buck ratio PSU out there? Well, that should be self-explanatory. I may go with the Connect 3D X800GTO, even though the newer batches don't seem to unlock. Hitting 600+ on core is very attracting. I'll throw an ATI Silencer on that baby and have some fun .
martymcfly Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 at least get a somewhat quality psu, like a coolermaster 350 588493 Sorry to tell you, but that PSU is both weak and it isn't quality.
Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 Especially when 350w will hardly run that card, which will hog around 175 watts at full load.

Kamikaze_Badger Posted December 1, 2005 Posted December 1, 2005 And my budget target? ~$350, which is why I'm getting the best Bang:Buck parts I can.
CoolMaster Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 some of the antec truepower 450 watts are like 50 I think i only say this cause I dont know anything about fortron psu's
Kash Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 Oh boy. Welcome back. 588498 FYI bigr, Fortron makes some VERY good quality PSUs, unlike that POS Coolermaster you recommended. At least have the common sense to recommend an Antec or a OCZ PSU, which are the equivalent of, if not better, than that Fortron
i_lag Posted December 2, 2005 Posted December 2, 2005 good choice with the 2600+, as you can see in my sig i have one and it runs great. good luck with your rig!!!
