Physics Processor

Recommended Posts

Well, I was just browsing the net when I remembered my friend mentioning something he saw about a physics card. I did a quick Google and came up with a forum talking about what was going on. I haven't seen anything about it here, so I was wondering what you guys thought about it.

yes, there was a post about this a while back, but with less info. I think this will be very useful in servers with intense server-side physics in the future. Altho that will be when dialup is ocmpletely eliminated, and fiber optics will be common, because that would be insane amounts of data going back and forth. :P

I'll buy one when its requirements lol

It'll probably end up that the physics chip is embedded on the card alongside the gpu on cards in two or three generations time, probably sharing 512-1gb or maybe having2 56 - 512 to itself

I've heard that it makes games much more realistic.

I heard that games have to support the function for it to be used.

Not necessarily. All games have physics, right?

hey the physics or should i say PhysX chip already has game developers making games for it, it will take the strain of physics calculations off the cpu and do it on the physX card

from cooltechzone

(Insider Report) - We are all aware of AGEIA and its desire to bring a PhysX processor for physics processing in order to make games look and feel more realistic. We all want the characters to move and act realistically, and that

That doesn't mean they know to have it sent to the physics processor to have it processed.
