Hyper Threaded Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Found out a week ago that my small dog has cancer in her paw. We've put her in an out-of-state animal hospital for chemotherapy, her treatment will take around a month and she's coming home for thanksgiving cos all the dogs do. First reports from the doctor says she's doing well, eating and drinking enough and she likes everyone that works with her, the first treatment went well. She needs sixteen radiation treatments to get rid of it all. She's been having these tumors on her paw that needed to be removed for a while, but it's just the last one that came back as being malignant. I feel really sorry for cos she's so small and she's good little dog. She doesn't deserve any of this, but it's what she needs. I don't think any of you have seen her, here's a pic... hockeyrcks9901 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Yea, I have a golden retriever that has been getting some minor growths...maybe 2. Luckily they aren't malignant. And dogs really are man's best friend. I like cats but they're no dog.
Ghost2520 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I've got a golden retriever who is suffering from a failing kidney. Uncurable. The vet said she has just a couple of weeks left, that was a month ago. We've got her on like 3 different kinds of medicine and she seems to be hangin in. We read on the internet that dogs have been known to last a couple extra years using these medicines on a failed kidney so I'm crossing my fingers. Hope your dog gets better too. That chemo's gotta be expensive!
hockeyrcks9901 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Aren't golden retrievers great dogs?!? I don't know what I'm gonna do when mine finally passes on...Maybe I'll have an apartment or house and can get another one. Hyper Threaded Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Yeah, the chemotherapy is fairly expensive, but it's what she needs and mum is paying for it. Everyone just wants the best for her, and this is.

If that was me I would put the dog down and get another. It would be a whole lot cheaper that way.

You could open up a pet salon that gives dogs pedicures and massages and make a lot of money

The test they gave her might of been wrong, so they are redoing the test this week. Im praying that its not true. I hope your dog dose well. I know its hard to lose a part of the family.. Dogs live for a big chunk of your lifes. Its always sad to see a pet that alot of people consider part of the family go ..... Also I hope the chemo goes well on your dog hyper..
