Hukka Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 I put an iceberg water cooling system on my cpu and when i first turned it on, nothing works.. There is a weird smell (but im pretty crap sure its not from the cpu, but from the radiator, a coating or something).. my monitor doesnt turn on, windows doesnt load (my laser mouse doesnt turn on, and no sound happens atleast, so i asume its not loading) I didnt overlcock, or even remove the cpu.. just put the cover over the cpu.. I did nick my mobo with a screw driver (it didnt leave any physcial damage) Im not sure what to do, any ideas? or help? any help or ideas would be great Thanks Hukka

I put it on it, then clamped it down.. just making sure it was over the whole CPU could i have shorted something? god.. i can order a new cpu tonight, but i want to make sure its the cpu, and that i dont do it again.. so any help from anyone would be great
Dominator Posted February 27, 2003 Posted February 27, 2003 The problem can be in the placing of the CPU! Are you sure the CPU is exactly in its slot. Take it out and put it back on, just to make sure! Put back your old radiator and fan and start up the whole thing.... if it strats for 10 seconds and turns off... you probably bent some contact ot the MB, can be even Cooler fan port contacts... if it still does not work power off (unplug the power cord from) your periferal stuff like CD-Roms harddrives... everyhting exept MB so that you can still get into BIOS setup.... still does not work check if you have not shortened out some stuff on the MB... hardreset you BIOS settings if you can... check your memory chips.... use dust blower if there is a lot of dust inside.... sometimes dust can create weird stuff happening with the contacts... after it works do not put you ICeberg back until you sure it works fine maybe there is no coolant flow and it just heats up in the standing liquid state... usually processor turns off if it overheats (especially when it's overclocked with voltage references)
