hardnrg Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 my xp-120 wasn't so impressive on the bottom... a few scratches, and quite deep machine grooves that you could hear when drawing a fingernail across them... basically it looked like crap and wasn't helping my temps... here it is before: and here it is after 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, and 2000 grit, a very aching shoulder and sore hands later!!! gotta love the shinyness also i popped the lid off my opteron 146... more on that later... DECwakeboarder Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 it seriously looks like you just flipped the picture and chopped it in there...looks great! I know what you mean about the machine grooves, I've been meaning to lap mine for a while now, maybe I'll get around to it since I have a 3 day weekend. hardnrg Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 what were your temps before and after? 575827[/snapback] before: 38 idle, 53 load after: 35 idle, 45 load oh, but i also took the ihs off at the same time lol, i'd say the lapping got me 3 degrees from the change in idle temps... will have helped bring down the load too... You're gonna inspire me to do the same So where are the pics from the striptease?! Also, did you have to do anything special to get the XP-120 to work with a naked chip? Inquiring minds WANT TO KNOW!!! The shine on that HS is amazing. Job well done!
