I will do at some point... I don't think I'm gonna get much more than 2.8ghz stable out of it on air... pretty good though since it's about the same speed as my 170 on water, but probably won't perform quite as fast due to half the L2 cache...

 

just trying to find an Orthos stable CPU OC so I can decide what divider/timings to use... hopefully I won't get that beeping error in Orthos when I'm sleeping, or worse, not get the beeping but have it deadlock my system after I leave it for a minute to go to sleep lol...

 

I've got top air OC in all but suicide for Phase 1 of Dual Core, so I'm happy with my OCing for tonight... I've had to open my window now though lol.... forgot how much heat these 939s dump out...

 

Eventually it's going to be an audio workstation, so hopefully I can reduce the volts and fan speed without sacrificing any/much speed...

Yeah yeah yeah I know lol... I'm still doing the CPU OC... that's why my RAM is underclocked! Ya big noob! :P

 

I've managed to lower the vCore and am re-running Orthos at 2801 MHz, 1.520v, 254.8 MHz, 3-4-4-8-1T and 256 Idle Timer... how d'ya like them apples! :lol:

 

so if this passes, I'll work on the timings, the CPU fails 2850 MHz after several hours, 2830MHz was also a no-go after like 18 hours lol, the RAM is only good up to about 263 MHz... so this is a safe stable CPU OC that can manage on moderate airflow... and that's what I need for the audio workstation, not an ultimate no-holds barred performance PC lol (just close to it :))

got some GSkill FX (TCCD) to replace my GSkill LE sticks that couldn't really overclock anymore... I used to run GSkill HZ (UCCC) in this rig, so going back to TCCD took a bit of memory skills (lol, I just realised the pun) to remember what settings to use...

 

had a bit of trouble at first, but finally found the optimal vDimm to get the sticks running nice and fast at low timings...

 

so far, so good

 

SP2004 (Prime95) Orthos (dual core) - Blend, 24+ hour test

 

X2 3800+, 10x275=2750, 1.400v x 110%

2x512 GSkill FX, 275, 2.5-4-3-7-1T, 2.6v (enable +0.3v) reading as 2.7v in BIOS

Preamble is 5.5ns in BIOS, A64 Tweaker seems to add 0.5ns for some reason

This isn't the highest CPU overclock for this system, although the SPi 32M seemed nice and fast... so no change to the results on the first page, it's more of a record of overclocking with this CPU/RAM combo... I miss having the DFI NF4 boards as my main rig lol, such a sweet platform

 

a bit of testing with the 2.5-4-3-9-1T timings

 

X2 3800+, 1.400v x 110%

2x512 GSkill FX, 2.5-4-3-7-1T, 2.6v (enable +0.3v) reading as 2.7v in BIOS

 

SPi 1M : 10x295=2952 MHz, 295 MHz

still not beating the personal bests for this CPU, but finding some nice performance with the new RAM that will probably work out nicely with the CPU 24/7 stable OC :)

just a some good ram i picked up off sleaze bay, I think its got the makings of a good overclock here for a single core

got to put us diyers in the frame
