cypher Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Ok, I have these budget 2.1 speakers with a 4.5' sub on them and a few days ago the sub started buzzing when any bass was going on, so I grabbed a screw driver and ripped the basted apart only to find that the rubber sealing the driver to the frame had being unstuck in a tiny place. Now all I have to do to get deep bass back is glue/seal the thing back onto the frame. Now a friend recommended silocon to seal it.....but I was wondering if I could use anything else. steve burnell Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 i wouldn't reccomend trying to repair it your self, you may get glue or whatever on the cone, i tried to do it myself once and failed, if the speakers are still under warenty, take em back and get them replaced

RVE Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Any kind of high quality glue will work. No not Elmer's glue. Nail glue works great, not nail as in nailing wood boards, but nail glue as in cometic finger nail glue. That stuff is strong, or use Krazy glue or anything along those lins. Silicon will work, that's like permanent seal stuff they use on gaskets on motor engines in your car. Better not mess up with the silicon cause once it's on there, it's on there forever unless you rip it off and tear it apart to get it off. I used nail glue when I was modding my stereo system in my car. I replaced the 4 stock speakers and added 2 12" subs and the nail glue's been holding for almost a year now with no problems.
