GolDfiNger Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 are you going in small increments? or are you trying to go str8 to 3.0 from 2.4?
cypher Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 COOL ur kingstons with some ram sinks, a hdd cooler isn't that nessary but if you have the $$ go for it. How are you overclocking.....BIOS, FSB, Multiplier??
AlcholicLawnGnome Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 if you want to get that high you will probably need to get a voltage mod kit unless you have asus mob
hendrikuskwan Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 hi guys i have a asus mobo and also i OC from the bios by external frequency coz they lock the multiplier ( anyway what is the different ??) and also u guyz say cool down the mobo chipset will it really works and i when i try to OC to 2.8... i got message like my system is corrupted or missing some file so i could not load up the windows , ( i install my OS for 5 times already , everytimes i move the external frequency to 152/.... from 133 , i got that message. so i have to re intall the os) i want to know what happen and which part that is not stable is that mobo, hd, vga or ???? exeter_acres Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 Just from reading your last post I'm gonna bet you are trying to jump the Grand Canyon in on leap!! Slow down!! Even Evil couldn't do it. (Yep, I'm old enough to remember that stunt!) I have seen that message too.... It only showed up when I first started overclocking and tried big jumps in my FSB.... If your default FSB is 133, maybe switch to 137 or 138, run a few things to burn it in, check for stability, WAIT a day or so, check all of your temps, and then bump it a bit more.... I am not an expert, but if you just bump it straight from 133 to 152 without stepping it up, your system will crap out..... I'm guessing here! YOU MUST INCREASE IN 1-3 SIGMENTS A TIME !!! what i wouldn't do is wait a day, but run a 3d mark, and after that a cpu test from sisoft sandra pro, and if it runs stable.. clock some more and idd chipset cooling is very important, for me it's just as important as memory, cpu, vid-card cooling greetz
