Dave Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 The local Fry's has a board/cpu combo for sale, but which one should I get? P4 2.4 with ECS p4vxasd2+ for $160 or a P4 2.4 with soyo dragon lite p4s-645d for $230. I will oc the chip a bit. Does anyone have experience using these boards as far as quality goes. VolcomPimp Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I wouldnt buy a p4.... if you're just goin for cheap Id go w/ the ecs but despite what others here will say about soyo, I'd go for the dragon lite... but actually I dono, for $90 price difference, I'd probly just go w/ the ECS... Dave Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Thanks for the help. I went with the ECS considering the price of P4's are down to 160, so the board is essentially free anyways. It has 6 USB 2.0 and a via chipset, compared to no usb2 but sis645 and raid on the soyo. Also the ECS only supports up to 2 ddr slots of pc2100 which i can pull 512mb from another machine, whereas the Soyo is maxed to pc2700 on three slots. I didn't think soyo was worth the extra $70 for the slightly better ram support, and i won't be setting up raid. Can't expect a lot of upgrading on a $50 board, so eventually I will replace it.
