bigr Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 wont break jack . idk, a set ram to 100 mhz, i run 4 sticks, in my lp nf4 ultrad the 3000+ is a dud, i think the 3200 is better the 3000 is just the lowest of the lowest and dont even try a voltage over 1.6 instability heaven
oralpain Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Seems like a configuration problem, or pehaps you just weren't lucky. My 3000+ venice does ok, not as good as I had originally suspected, but after some tweaking and serious stability testing I have settled on 301x9, 1.65v, with my twinmos UTT memory at the CPU/12 ratio (226Mhz), 3.04 volts. This appears to bve perfectly stable in everything I've tossed at it. Super Pi 32m and 16m running intandem, 24 hours of prime 95, thousands of loops of memtest86+ test #5, and many hours of many games. Stepping and a good deal of chance play a part. Nothing is guaranteed.
Waco Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Mine does fine (take a look at my sig). I'd put money on it being a configuration problem.
hardnrg Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 update bios run 2 sticks read about bios settings connect extra power to mobo (molex + floppy) 3000 venice's are generally decent oc'ers... with an ultra-d i'd say you were doing something wrong and that you maybe have to read some more
ccokeman Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Its not a plug and play board it does take some time to get it right. Depending on the bios and howmany settings you have on auto you can run into some serious stablility issues. Post the settings in the genie bios section of your bios. agentorange Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 It's rare to get four sticks at 1t and 1:1 much over 200 htt, even with an E6.

agentorange Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Exactly, it's the on-board memory controller on the A64's; it just can't handle four sticks at 1t. DFI has been working on this problem in bios's but I'm not sure if it can be solved outside of the core.

hardnrg Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 unlucky for you... the 3000 venice is one of the best overclockers atm... many reach a 50% oc or higher... shame about your ram/heatsink situation
