thecougarguy Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 Ok. I'm completely new to this board, as most of you probably know by now. I have a Dell 4300 P4 1.6 512. I'm running a Visiontek Ti4600, and with 3d Mark 2001 se I couldn't break 7500, and with the new 2003, I can't break 1500. What gives? I've tried overclocking a little (I have stock cooling and such) right now I'm at 310/650. What's the fastest I could go without upgrading the cooling? I changed a couple of settings in GeForce Tweak, (Side Band Addressing, and a couple others) and Splinter Cell improved noticeably, but 3d Mark 2003 actually fell from my previous 1481 to 1414 or something. Any thoughts? Thanks
mxrider623 Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 it might be your processor because i have a 2400+, 512 DDR, and a Ti 4200 and i get way higher scores on 2001=9709 and ive only overclocked my video card.
Acid Storm Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 I would highly recommend running pcmark2002. then you know if it is some other part of your hardware of not. Sandra2003 is also a very good tool which actualy tells you how to improve performance. GET THESE! if you have more questions, just ask good luck
HashBacon Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 uhh i have a athlon xp 2400 and a ti 4600 im getting the 10500's try getting the agp drivers and stuff and go into the option for the video card put everyting at best preformance
DimensioN Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 well you could also try to tweak your ti 4600 , and maybe your memory.. that to helps a lot greetz
sykocus Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 make sure you have the newest chipset drivers like someone mentioned. also experiment with different video card drivers...i've had good results with the 42.86 unoffical drivers. also what are your video card settings? performace should be set to agressive, anisotropic filtering should be set down as well as antialiasing. (i turn antialiasing to one notch cus, cus it just looks too crapy turned off). also mipmap level to best performace in D3D settings. thecougarguy Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 I had my settings something like this: Anti-aliasing: Off A. Filtering: Off MipMap: The middle one Performance: Aggressive In my bios (Dell C5 or something) I had the apperture set to 128, though I just bumped it up to 256. I also just got the GeForce Tweak program like I said earlier and turned Side Band Addressing on, and it helped a pretty good amount, but as I said, the 3d Mark 2003 score fell after raising the aperture and enabling the SBA, even though it feels like games run better. Go figure. I'm going to run a benchmark with 2001 and post it when I'm done. Let's see how the changes I've made affect the older program. thecougarguy Posted February 24, 2003 Posted February 24, 2003 Ok. Just re-ran 3d 2001 using 42.86 drivers. My new score was a whole 6999. I don't get this at all, games run much better than before. Since I changed the drivers and tweaked a little in GeForce Tweak, Mafia and Splinter Cell run much much better, but the benchmarks are worse? How can this be?
