rascal Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 (edited) I've been trying to get this dumb hack to work all day. I have a NTFS hard drive so i can't use a bootup disk to replace logonui.exe. I have been loading windows in safe mode instead. I have sucsessfully replaced the file, but when i boot up afterwords i get a error window where the logon screen should be it says: Parser Message Value creation failed " at line 608 after pushing ok about 8 times (because the window pops back up) I can login the NT way, but then once windows is loaded I can't log off, restart, or anything ... I have to manually power the pc off. I went back to resource hacker and checked line 608 in the \UIFILE\1000\1033 tree and the line says: background: rcbmp(113,7,255,0,0,1,0); i have not changed these values so what gives? Do I need to change them and to what? This error cant be coming from anything in any of the other trees because none of them have more than 21 or so lines. A little help with this would be appreciated. Edited February 20, 2003 by rascal

rascal Posted February 21, 2003 Posted February 21, 2003 I am using XP Pro also ..SP1. I did the graphics myself, but all i did was change the bitmaps. I didn't use one of those dumb templates. I will try using one of the pre-made startup screens (dumb templates) from the guide. I'll post again when I try it.
Mister_Webmaster Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 (edited) see my post in Changing Xp's Logon Screen Edited February 23, 2003 by Mister Webmaster
rascal Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 Thanks for the advice, I tried LogonLoader after I made that post and i had troubles with it so I have been using Style Xp ... there's a bonus with that too cause I am using it for my themes and visual styles too. And I have been using BootXP for my bootup screens ... they both work great. Anyone have any comments about Style XP vs WindowsBlinds? I havn't used Windowsblinds b4 and would like to see what everyone has to say about it. I've seen a forum where people where arguing about which was better, but they didn't really give any pro's/con's for each one. Mister_Webmaster Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 look on wincustomize's web site, and see how many "skins" have been made for WindowBlinds.
rascal Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 (edited) You are right there are a lot of "skins" there, but almost all that I saw seemed second rate. I saw one that I might like using all the time <_< ... and i went through 35 pages of them. I am using a visual style (msstyle file) called Sentinal (Black) and I think it is the best I have found so far. http://www.belchfire.net/ is where i have been getting my "skins" This is what my desktop looks like http://www.angelfire.com/pro/mydesktop/ What do ya think? I dig it! Edited February 26, 2003 by rascal
