Which 7800 Gtx To Buy - Im Confused :-(

hey guys

I am on the lookout for a Geforce 7800GTX, but i have seen different models available:

Asus, BFG, XFX, MSI

Now i know that the clock speeds are different, but apart from that are all these graphics cards PCI-E and Sli ready? I have a Motherboard with Sli - so thats what i want!!! I saw a review saying that the MSI was the only one ready for SLi, and it had a significantly higher FPS in the tests they did??? Can someone explain - or are they all Sli ready - or do i need to specifically look for the SLi symbol when buying?

any help will be great.

regards jp

EDIT:

PS can these cards be easily OCed with a simple tool like ATI tray tool, and can you set up profiles for games too (or an nVidia alternative to Ati tray tool?)

I'd get a BFG OCed one if you can but that's just me...  And BTW, yes all 6600 gts, 6800 gts, 6800 ultras, and 7 series Nvidia cards are SLI compatible.

:withstupid: ya BFG is the best cause they come with the cards pre-oced and usually come with overkill cooling.... i dunno bout the 7 series tho.

You mean eVGA?

I've not had much experience with them, but BFG seems to be the best for overclocking.

SLI depends a lot on your CPU. Why? Because both cards have to be fed data through 16 lines, divided into 8 lines a card. Also keep in mind that the CPU will have to vary the data sent, along with EVERYTHING ELSE IN YOUR COMPUTER.

nVidia has a hidden program known as "Coolbits" for overclocking. It can be opened with a simple registry tweak, or just follow this guide.

I persoanlly bought an eVGA 7800GT, it had higher stock clocks than the BFG OC model so I didnt se any reason not to...You might want to stay away from XFX's doulbe lifetiem replacement, it pretty much is a standard RMA policy, but they charge the second owner for parts (and if you read teh fien print it's dang near impossible to even have it transfer over), so it's more of a 1.5x lifetime warranty.

unless its AGP..

go with BFG... they have excellent customer service, a lifetime warranty... pre-oc'd and great well built cards...

and if you're worried about voiding the warranty by overclocking your card, then go with a BFG kuz they already come pre-OC'd... but don't tell them you overclocked it more or else they will void your warranty... I own a BFG 6800 Ultra AGP.. and i love it.. it was worth every last penny of its $463 final total price
