garygiles Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 I have the same board. How many watts is the power supply. may be using up too much juice. Its a 350W PSU. I'm hoping this is enough. G.

garygiles Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 Well thats not good news about the problems you have with your bios. Is this common? I really hope not. I have this board running sound effects on 3 shows. Has anyone else had the same problems? Regards G.
xpandapuss Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Couple of questions for you..... Are you overclocking the system in any way??? Next, do you have any speakers installed to the onboard sound module??? That power supply should provide ample current to you motherboard and periferals. With the P4PE, when the system "hangs", it's the protection kicking in--better known as CPR [CPU Parameter Recall]. Having speakers setup will allow you to hear the possible problem via the ASUS POST Reporter.....
garygiles Posted February 19, 2003 Posted February 19, 2003 Hi I'm not overclocking at all. I have 3 of these systems being used in theatre shows as audio playback systems. They have to be rock solid. They are being used by people who don't nessary know much about PC's I have the Asus Post Reporter switch off at the moment. I was worried that it would go off in the middle of a show. The the computers in the middle of the auditorium right next to the audience so you can understand why I need them to be absolutely silent. I can't really have the computer booting up in the middle of a show and some voice thing comming out. Dose the voice report only come out of the audio output at the back of the PC? or does it also come out of the little pc speaker? If it was the audio op at the back I could get the sound operator to turn the sound off when the show is running. Regards G. JeepGC96ZJ Posted February 22, 2003 Posted February 22, 2003 I have this board and I love it. So far I have Oced it to 2.9GHZ. with my 2.53. Here is what I would suggest. Get some headphones. Walkman will do witht he little ear pieces. That way no one will hear the BIOS talking to you and they wont think your crazy! so go ahead and enable it. Next I would try updating your BIOS. Check for the lates and if its the same date then update it any way. Make sure your Vid card is compliant. It has to be 2x or 4x no inbetweenie. Do you have it connected to a flat screen? Flat screens talk a bit longer to show than reagular monitors so maybe that why your seeing nothing. Right after you push the power button to boot up watch your keyboard. Do you see the lights blink on your keyboard "Hope you dont have tohe old keyboard" If you see teh lights on Keyboard flash once then right after that hit the DEL key to go into BIOS. If you can do that then something is hanging with your ViD. Jeep
garygiles Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 Thanka for the ideas. This is defently some sort of bios problem. When restarting it always boots up into the bios, saying incorrect CPU Speed. Asus has not been much help either. G.
JeepGC96ZJ Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I cant even get a hold of ASUS. Their Phone #s listed are fax #s? If you have a # i would like it please. My Pc will not boot now. LOL I may have broken it. Hrmmm. But I dont think so. I cant get out of the BIOS or if I stay at the splash screen wating for it to boot it never will and gets hung. garygiles Posted February 25, 2003 Posted February 25, 2003 I have only emailed them. I have 2 of these boards on shows. The 1 have been having problems with has been ok latley. How do you this you broke yours? G.
JeepGC96ZJ Posted February 26, 2003 Posted February 26, 2003 tis all working now. In the BIOS there is a question that ask if you want to reset to default settings. I slected yes and reboot. I also updated my BIOS from 1002 to Beta 1003. It seems more stable I think.. But no known issues. My next thing to do it get 3 Corsair PC 3500 Memory 256MB each. Maybe 2 512MB not sure yet. Then I will start to OC my PC. Oh and a better Vid Card. I cant wait. Might be a bit cause I gotta work on my Jeep first. Need some shoes for her. How is everything going on your end. Everything working yet? Jeep
