Resistor Color Code

In one of my classes were learning about resistors and how each color on a resistor mean a different number like.

 

0 black

1 brown

2 red

3 orange

4 yellow

5 green

6 blue

7 violet

8 gray

9 white

 

and then were suppose to come up with poems to remeber all the colors and find other poems to remeber it by for homework anyone know of one? Like this one

You should come up with a poem for the tolerance percentage color code. That'd be easier

Rembering the number % is easy I think it goes #1, #2, then 2 zeros. Its the number color code that kinda hard to remeber.

I memorized it as:

 

Bad boys rape our young girls but violet goes willingly

 

Now, I'm not sure I'd suggest you turn that in as homework, but I remember that little diddy 20 years later after not having had to use it in that time.

it's not THAT hard to remember the colour order... it's almost like the rainbow with a few extra at each end... just remember the colour order... black, brown, (rainbow basically - indigo omitted cos it's almost a fake colour), grey, white...

 

how hard can that be really...

 

the hard part is memorising what each band does, multipliers, and tolerances and then dealing with the OLD system and the NEW system!!!!

 

my poem would be:

 

"a black dog and a brown dog looked at the rainbow and thought indigo was a stupid colour so they skipped it... then a grey cat and a white cat strolled up and they had a big fight and the cats died."

OMG...yeah soooo easy. My poem would go like "The green rabbit looked up at the red rabbit and said, like, Yo what's up my brown brother. The red rabbit said, "I'm not brown mother &$@%!!" So the white rabbit hops up and starts talking to the maroon raboot. Then Mr. Sky Blue Turtle coes out of his shell and crawls over to the Seafoam squirrel. They then began to have a nut-eating contest. The seafoam squirrel got 34 black nuts, 2 yellow nuts, and 18.74 gray nuts. The turtle said "No fair you got more gray nuts than me!1!" The End"

Yeah my computer repair teacher was a crack head...

I'm glad she didn't make me do stuff w/ the rest of the class.

The key is to establish dominance over the teacher early on

and then they let you do whatever you want all semester

since the less responsibility a crack head computer teacher has

the better.
