Jacket Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 I posted about this in the video section, got a few suggestions, but so far have been unsuccessful in attempts to fix this recurring problem. While in a game, I am suffering from a strange crash. The computer doesn't reboot and I don't crash to desktop, everything just hangs. The monitor loses it's signal and the sound does that annoying repeat thing of the last second and a half looping over and over. I don't currently have anything overclocked to see if it was a heat issue. Currently, my cpu doesn't get over 42 while playing a game. Does ANYONE have any idea what is wrong with my computer... I'm about | | <-- that close to just scrapping this pos and budgeting for new stuff (but I wanted to wait around for Athlon 64 =P)
ukmike02 Posted February 16, 2003 Posted February 16, 2003 It might be your PSU, that can cause crashes. Check out your voltages, as your cpu relies on this to get the 0s and 1s. you can have no voltage, voltage but not maybe voltage (maybe with quantum computing). If you get an error in the data caused by fluctuating voltages, then that would cause blue screens, random crashes etc. Mike
hiph0pan0nym0usx Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 what game? no seriosuly, it COULD just be the game. does it crash in anything else besides the game?
Jacket Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 I have a 400-watt Antec PP403X... I really don't think it's the PSU because it only happens in games... It happens in all of my games and only in games, so that includes: Unreal 2 America's Army Counter-Strike Mafia Grand Theft Auto 3 MOHAA Battlefield 1942

d3bruts1d Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 I had a problem like this as well.... 3DMark01 would lock up, as well as any game... the problem, was I was trying to use my GF4ti4600 on an older (P3) board... the board just couldn't handle the card. Windows would work/look fine, but as soon as anything intense started up, just black. Several other people, also ran into the same problem with a GF4 on that board (TUA266)... so, your problem may be something of the like. Jacket Posted February 17, 2003 Posted February 17, 2003 Similar but slitghtly different... I can run games for a length of time, but then it would crash at some random interval, never the same... I just put in another 512 of 2100, so maybe it will help... Or at least the games will crash a lot faster!!
