Sata Hiccup

Well i got this cheapo seagate 160gb sata hdd to store random files on. Right now my master is a seagate 200gb ide. I was under hte impression that if I just wanted to use the sata drive as a secondary, backup drive, all I had to do was plug it in and let it rip without installing any drivers for it. I plugged it in, booted up, and BIOS detects it (160gb SATA), its detected in device manager, "working properly", of course that doesn't mean a dang thing... but it won't show up in My Computer...so what should I do? I would like to get this thing showing up without installing any drivers because I really don't feel like installing a floppy on my machine right now.
